Robert Hunter was subjected to alien experiments and got the power to become a living explosion. So he became the super villain Nitro. While being able to blow things up is not exactly a constructive power, Nitro has made two big accomplishments in his villainous career:

1. While fighting the original Captain Marvel, Nitro exposed him to experimental nerve gas that caused the cancer that would eventually kill Captain Marvel.

2. He blew up the entire town of Stamford, Connecticut which started the events of the Civil War mini-series.
