X-Statix was a group of mutant super-heroes who lived the celebrity lifestyle. Unlike other super teams, members of X-Statix were concerned with public appearances and endorsement deals rather than saving the world. X-Statix members tended to be media-obsessed, have emotional problems, and get killed in action very frequently.

Despite their conflicting personalities, the various members of X-Statix had come together and were a close-knit group when the entire team was killed during what was supposed to be their final mission before retirement.
