Average guy Buddy Baker gained the power to duplicate the abilities of any animal on Earth yet stayed an average guy. Sure, he became the super hero Animal Man, but he decided to spend more time with his wife and family than fighting crime.

Animal Man had a series in the late 80's written by Grant Morrison that's now been reprinted in trade paperbacks. I highly recommend it. It's the story of a average guy who must deal with the weird and extraordinary.
