Captain Mar-Vell of the alien Kree militia was assigned observation duty on Earth. Fed up with the Kree's plan of conquering humanity, Mar-Vell begins to protect Earth from the Kree and all threats. Later, he would gain solar-based super-powers and use of the powerful Nega-Bands, and act as the "Protector of the Universe".

Mar-Vell died from cancer caused from exposure to a toxic nerve gas during a fight with the villain Nitro.
