When Iron Man needed to investigate mysterious microwave transmissions from space, he introduced his first set of space armor. Designed to operate in zero-G conditions, this bulky armor provided the necessary protection and propulsion for space flight and operations. Iron Man would test his new armor to the max of its abilities while dealing with the misguided scientist Sunturion and his solar power station.

The first space armor (seen here in Minimate form) premiered in Iron Man #142. There have been several different models since this one was introduced.

The Recipe

Space Armor Iron Man is made from a repainted Minimate. His boots come from a Guy Gardner Minimate, while his helmet and torso piece come from a Modular Armor Iron Man. His barrel chest piece comes from a Beast Minimate. Shoulder cuffs on the chest piece are made from Magic Sculpt. His gloves are from a Batgirl Minimate, modified and with cuffs added with Magic Sculpt. All details are added with water-transfer decals.
