Superman (Recovery Suit)

Custom Minimate figure Custom Minimate figure

During the 1990's, one of the biggest events in comics was the Death of Superman, where Superman was killed and four new characters appeared to take the role of Superman. Except of course Superman wasn't really dead - he just needed some time to start breathing again.

Superman's recovery look was inspired by the trends in 90's comics - an all-black suit with long hair dangerously close to a mullet. The black suit didn't stay long, but the long hair was around for a few years until Superman decided to stop looking like Billy Ray Cyrus.

The Recipe

Recovery Suit Superman is made from a repainted Minimate. Superman's face is a digital printout, while the "S" emblem on his chest is a water-transfer decal. His hair is made from Sculpey.
