After the success of the 2007 Charitymates custom Minimate auction, all-around good guy Fujis was happy to organize a second Charitymates event for 2008. Minimates Multiverse forum, The theme was anthropomorphic animals, with proceeds from the auction going to the World Wildlife Fund to help real animals. I struggled to come up with a concept until the idea of a bee buzzed into my head. After some sculpting, some cutting and scoring plastic and a lot of painting, I had created a bee Minimate.

The bee Minimate was named Eric Halfabee, after the Monty Python skit. He is also known as the Duke of Honey.

The Recipe

Eric Halfabee is made from a repainted Minimate. Eric's eyes, antennae and stinger are made from Magic Sculpt. He wears a big chest piece for bulk and to give me a way to attach his wings. His wings are made out of plastic cut from an action figure bubble, then scored with a pointy metal sculpting tool to add detail. The wings are attached to the chestpiece with nails.
