Jonny Quest is a cartoon that premiered in 1964, and starred a ten year old boy, his best friend, his scientist father, and a government agent bodyguard as they traveled to exotic locations and encountered unbelievable threats. Unique for the time, Jonny Quest featured realistic animation and an emphasis on action with science-fiction overtones. The show quickly became a cult classic, and is fondly remembered even today.

I like the Jonny Quest series a lot, and one night it finally occurred to me that the cast would be pretty easy to put together in Minimate form. I raided my spare hairpiece box, pulled some more parts together and soon had these Minimates made.

Jonny Quest

Jonny Quest is the only son of Dr. Benton Quest, and travels with his father on his research trips. These research trips lead Jonny to all sorts of threats like headhunters, dinosaurs and energy monsters.

Jonny Quest is made from a repainted Minimate. His hair is from a Captain Kirk Minimate. His face is a digital printout.

 

Dr. Benton Quest

Dr. Benton Quest is a leading scientist with a brilliant and creative scientific mind. He is well-versed in many fields of science, including computer science, engineering, marine biology and medicine.

Dr. Benton Quest is made from a repainted Minimate body. His hair comes from a Klingon Minimate, and his lab coat comes from a Doc Cottle Minimate. His face and his chest are digital printouts.

 

"Race" Bannon

Race Bannon is a the government agent assigned to protect Dr. Benton and his family from harm. He's a highly skilled and resourceful soldier who protects the boys like they were his own.

Race Bannon is made from a repainted Minimate. His hair is from a Dr. Fate Minimate, his face is a digital printout and his shirt details are from water transfer decals.

 

Hadji

Hadji is Jonny's adopted brother from the streets of Calcutta. He met the Quests saving Dr. Quest from an assassination attempt, and assisted them in destroying a spy ring in the Himalayas. Hadji was adopted by Dr. Quest soon after that, and now can always be found at Jonny's side.

Hadji is made from a repainted Minimate. His long shirt tails come from a Jigsaw Minimate, and his shirt details are from a water-transfer decal. His face is a digital printout. Hadji's turban is made from Sculpey.
