Where the Wild Things Are: Max

Custom Minimate figure

My wife really likes the book "Where the Wild Things Are". She likes it so much, she made some custom Minimates of the characters. This is Max, a little boy who one night travels to the land of wild things and becomes their king.

The Recipe

Max was made by my wife Sarah from a repainted 2" Minimate. His unique texture comes from mixing white glue, white paint and fine grit sand together, then applying it to the Minimate. His claws and buttons were made from stiff cardboard. Max's hood is a modified Rhino helmet with Sculpey details, while his crown is made completely from Sculpey. His scepter is made from Sculpey and a toothpick.
